DJB Lawyer becomes Deputy District Judge

We are proud to announce that Dinah Close, one of the firm's Associate Solicitors,  has been appointed a Deputy District Judge following a thorough, year-long application process.

Deputy District Judges sit in County Courts and District Registries of the High Court for between 15 and 50 days per annum.  They must have at least 7 years' Post Qualification Experience and serve for a minimum of 5 years.  There are 800 Deputy District Judges in England and Wales working in 5 different circuits or areas.

Dinah was one of just two Deputy District Judges appointed in 2007 for the Western Circuit, which stretches from Cornwall to Dorset and north to Bristol.  She will provide additional support for the full time District Judges, examining civil cases on paper as well as in the court room related to a variety of areas of law.

Dinah will continue to work for Davitt Jones Bould as well as undertaking her new, judicial duties.  She will begin sitting in early 2008.
